Strong 8K World on Windows and Mac Laptop
The one that travels with you anyway. It is also the quickest way to prove whether a problem is the subscription or the network you are sitting on.
Before you start

Get a player
On Windows, take the desktop build from our Downloads page. Windows may warn about an unrecognised publisher, so choose More info and then Run anyway. On macOS, VLC handles an M3U link perfectly well and needs nothing else.
Sign in or paste the link
A desktop player wants the Xtream server, username and password in three separate boxes. In VLC, open the File menu, choose Open Network Stream, and paste your M3U link into the box.
Test on the network you are worried about
Open two or three channels from different groups on the hotel or office connection. Clean playback here and stuttering on the television means the network is fine and the television device is the problem.
Plug into the room television
A short HDMI cable turns any hotel television into a monitor. Set the laptop display to mirror, and switch off notifications first unless you want your messages on a screen the whole room can see.
Worth knowing
- A laptop on a wired connection is the most honest test of a line there is. If it is clean here, the subscription is healthy.
- Many hotel networks require you to accept a captive portal page before anything streams. Open a browser first and get past that.
- Keep the M3U link in a note on your phone. It saves typing a very long address on a keyboard you are not used to.
