Strong 8K World on MAG and Formuler Set-Top Box
The kindest option for a relative in another country. There is no username, no password and nothing to remember, because the box identifies itself.
Before you start
- A MAG or Formuler box
- The MAC address on the sticker underneath the box
- A wired or wireless connection
Read the MAC address
The sticker on the base of the box carries it, in the form 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX, and the box will also show it to you under Settings, System Settings, About. Take a photograph of the sticker instead of copying it out, because a mistyped pair of characters is the single most common reason a MAG order stalls.
Hand us the MAC at checkout
Set the delivery type to MAG when you order and enter the address character for character, colons and all. That address is the whole of what we need from you, because the portal identifies the box by it rather than by any login.
Point the box at the portal
The portal list is buried four menus deep: Settings, System Settings, Servers, Portals. The name field is only a label, so Strong 8K World will do, and the URL field takes the portal address from your account page.
Restart the portal
Store the entry and send the box through a restart from the system menu. Channels arrive by themselves and nobody is ever presented with a login box to get wrong, which is the reason these boxes suit a relative who would rather not be taught anything.
Set the time zone for their country
If you are setting this up for somebody abroad, change the box time zone to theirs before you post it. It is the one thing they will not know how to correct over the phone.
Worth knowing
- One character wrong in the MAC and the portal will not know the box. Send us the photo of the sticker if you are unsure.
- If the box is replaced or the relative moves house, send support the new MAC and we will move the subscription across free of charge.
- A MAG box posted overseas needs the right mains adapter for that country. Check before you send it rather than after.
